Grade 6 Reflection

Sixth grade has been my best school year ever.The best project we ever did in humanities and learnt a lot of new skills was our research project mine was about the invention of airplanes.I was surprised when I read my letter and I noticed that it said I was 154 CM and now I'm 161 CM.I have grown in my height.

Research Essay, The Success of Aviation by the Wright Brothers

The Wright Brothers were Wilbur and Orville Wright.Wilbur and Orville were really close that's why they worked together and didn't get annoyed with each other..Without the invention of airplanes it was not so easy to go far from home.Automobiles and Trains were becoming a big problem and they needed a better and faster way of transportation.Automobiles were not so comfortable at that time, and they always end up in an accident, Trains could not go if there were no tracks.So the Wright Brothers slowly started developing Bicycle's and made it a fast and easy way of transportation.The Wright Brothers were so hardworking and very intelligent. The Wright Brothers made a very fast and useful way of transportation,which changed the world and inspired people in many different ways.

When Wilbur and Orville were 11 years old they got a present from Milton Wright their older brother, It was a toy helicopter which Milton made.Wilbur and Orville were amazed and inspired! They both started being closer because of this and remained close till the end of their lives.Their dreams were to make a flying machine.This moment changed the Wright Brothers' lives, And designed their future, it motivated them a lot.That was not the only reason they were so inspired they were also amazed about how birds fly.

The Wright Brothers did not graduate from college they graduated in 10th so they were not really experts in anything but had skill and smartness.Orville was very interested in the printing business when he was a teenager.Then he decided to have a print shop and published a newspaper.But on the other side Wilbur was eager to go to college. When Wilbur was 18 he  was about to go to college, but unfortunately,he got stuck in an Skiing accident His mouth and face were hurt.Then Wilbur started to have heart problems,he didn't leave home for the next few years. He read and took care of his mother who was really sick.As Wilbur's problems began to slowly heal,he helped Oriville in the printing business.They both worked hard together and got along well and then they  were successful newspaper publishers,editors and a owner of a printing press.They wrote many articles on th newspaper, their newspaper was really famous Even though the Wright brothers did not go to college and graduated just after 10th grade, They still were really smart and tried their best in everything they worked on.

The Brothers noticed that birds tip or twist their wings in the air, thats how they keep their balance.they thought for a minute they said to themselves could the same thing be done with an aircraft.They attached ropes to wing tips in a kite in Kitty Hawk,North Carolina they pulled on the ropes it worked, they made it go up and down,right and left.But the wind was really hard and they faced a lot of major problems then they  managed to fix the problems and balance each side perfectly and then they said this is just  a kite it's not an aircraft which can fly with a human controlling it.the Wright's were still enthusiastic.The Wright Brothers used one of their Bicycle shops to make an engine, it took several weeks to make it.Then they attached the Engine to the Plane and guess what? that was the first Airplane that was flying with a man on it, December 17,1903.Orville Wright said "Isn't it astonishing that all these secrets have been preserved for so many years just so we could discover them".This was one of the most successful invention in history.When Orville was flying the airplane everyone was looking at it and then they realized it was not stupid and it was actually a cool and useful thing.(The Wright Brothers Heroes of Flight)

Many people were inspired and they thought it was a really useful way of transportation after Orville Wright flew it for 60 minutes straight.Bill Gates had said "The Wright Brothers created the single greatest cultural force since the invention of writing.The Airplane became the world wide web, bringing people,languages,ideas,and values together"They faced many different problems such as the strong winds but if you see it in a way it forced them develop the aircraft and that made it safer,stronger and faster.I think it was really hard and important to overcome those problems so that the aircraft works well in normal breeze and hard winds.People made aircrafts faster,safer and sturdier but they still use the Wright Brothers' ideas today! The main reason the Wright Brothers were so successful was because of their smartness,hard work and especially their perseverance. (The Airplane by Sinclair, Julie L)

This quote means a lot to me. I've used this type of idea in my life "Perseverance" it worked.I think this saying is really important. It's really useful.This happened to me, I lost the keys of my locker in the locker room where I had all my shower cosmetics in I was all sweaty I had to find them.I told myself keep trying come on and I thought of the result for a moment and that persuade me to start persevering.I checked everywhere searched for 20 minutes then I finally found the keys. And I thought to myself persevering payed off.This shows it's a really important mindset.

There are many things I already know about basketball.I know the rules of basketball and I've played Basketball before.I know that you can defend by doing box-outs.I've learned that your not supposed to use your palm to bounce the ball.This unit has made me a stronger person physically because I got heart many times and didn't show it.I can continue practicing by playing at lunch time.

Extended Response Reflection

To be honest at the beginning of November my responses were nowhere near the responses I do now.Now I edit my work and make it clear for the reader. In my first extended responses I did not edit my work I thought it's not gong to make an differences.I was not doing so well I didn't edit my work properly and didn't take it that seriously to be honest it lacked editing. I didn't understand the requirements of a strategy I thought I was right and didn't look at the document where it had a detailed explanation of each strategy.But after they showed us a presentation and explained what are the requirements again I understood it.So I understood that we have to give evidence I wasn't giving any good evidence or I didn't edit my work.Then after I gave evidence I always got 10/10.Now I clearly understand what to do and when I've been reading books I jott the evidence in a piece of paper and attach it to my extended response.Now I've done a couple of good extended responses and I've edited it nicely and it is very clear.Here is a Visualizing Response. It's a recent one.

I am currently reading a book called Charlie Small and The Perfumed Pirates of Perfidy by Nick Ward.It is a story about Charlie when he was on his adventure,While he was trying to go back to his house he got stuck with the women pirates.In this book I am visualizing a lot and a movie is playing in my head with all the details.An example of me visualizing 'Who are you talking to boy' said the women pirate.She demanded scanning the treasure room with her dark angry eyes.'N-no-one' I stammered hiding the phone behind my back.But too late-the captain had already seen it.'What have you got there,have you been helping yourself with our precious jewels. In my mind I could see Charlie's small face looking very frightened and the lady pirate's angry and ugly face.I could also very well imagine him spinning the old phone and talking to his parents when the pirate's came in and then Charlie stammering.

And Guess what I got a 10/10

Reflection on Ancient India

Ancient India Reflection

I learned a lot in the Ancient India Unit even though I'm Indian.I now know all the answers to what I want to know at that time. I understood everything and it made a lot of sense.Only question that I didn't get the answer to was what do they eat..We learned a lot about the two empires the Maurya and the Gupta Empire.We learned a LOT about Buddhism and Hinduism.I understood both the religion.

Buddhism

• I learnt about Ahimsa which means non violence.
• Nirvana means the end of suffering
• Siddhartha Gautama was a prince a priest told his parents when he was young that he will become a holy man.So his parents were cautioned.When Siddhartha went out of the castle when he was 29 he realized people were suffering,dying and needed help.So he sat under a fig tree until he got an understanding.

Hinduism

• Hindus believed in reincarnation a life cycle.
• They also believed in karma.

Test

I made some mistakes, the first time I thought of the answer it was right then I thought it was wrong and changed it so It was a mistake.

An Honest Reflection of my Responsibility this Year

I made lot of good goals for myself in the beginning of the year I achieved the main ones but I didn't achieve many goals the goals I didn't achieve were really important as well but I know this year is not over so I'm going to try harder towards my goal.I could have reviewed the work we had in class when I got home and worked harder.

Who am I as a Math student?

I've improved my math in sixth grade.I'm not doing great but I've improved a lot and understand most of the math skills they teach in class.I think math class is very fun, I like learning new skills in math when it makes sense.I would like to work more on integers,graphing skills and explaining my steps.I understand converting currency rates,stock market and finding discount.I can improve by working more on Khan Academy.

Ayyanar Horse Project Hatey

Idea-The idea of our sculpture was a Korean Cartoon monster it called hatey.

Process-

               Step 1:Make two big pinchpots

               Step 2:Score the pinch pots and use slip to stick them together.

               Step 3:Make 4 cylinders for 4 legs and then poke a stick through the cylinder.

               Step 4:Make a face

               Step 5:Put little clay on top of the dried layer for it to become bigger

               Step 6:Make poky sticks for the thorns

              

Thoughts About Subtracting Negative

I don't really understand why we add negative numbers when we have a subtracting sign so we add I don't understand the concept.

Stock Market Reflection

I enjoyed the stock market activity.I really had fun inventing a product.Then it was also fun deciding whether you want to invest in this company and how much you want to invest?.I practiced finding percents and found new techniques to solve the problem.In this project we learned what a stock market was.The rate of return really mattered, the robot company had 11% and not many people invested in it, not because of the product it's because of the rate of return.

Volleyball Unit

I knew how to set at the start of the unit and nothing else.During the unit I learned how to set correctly,serve the right technique,and bump the ball correctly.This unit has improved my health by making my neck stronger because when I set it up I look up.I can maybe try out for the team next year.
